Family Camp

July 11-12

We attended Family Camp, an overnight camp through the Carol Joy Holling center at Nebraska Luthern Outdoor Ministries camp in Ashland, NE.  It was a fun time together despite the weather.  We slept in a hotel-like room but in a dorm-type set-up with shared bathrooms down the hall.  We shared meals as a group with the other family-camp members in the cafeteria, went to the animal barn, tie-dyed bandanas, roasted marshmallows for smores and sang campfire songs, participated in worship services, made crafts, went paddle boating and canoeing, went swimming and took a hayrack ride.  We just had an all-around good time together!

Unexpected Visit

July 5

We had a wonderful unexpected visit from some good friends of ours on July 5.  The Maggio family was on their way home from visiting their families in Indiana and stopped for supper and a quick visit Monday night before making it another 3 hours to stay for the night.  It was fantastic to get to catch up and get a good dose of friendship...if even only for a little bit!

Maggio's also brought their newest addition, Izzy, back from Indiana.  She enjoyed some running around in the backyard with the kids.

Calumus Trip

JULY 2-3

We had such a great time this summer on a trip tanking down the Calumus River.  We stayed in a cozy cabin near Burwell, NE, at Calumus Outfitters.  It was a one room cabin with two bunk-beds.  It did however have a bathroom and a microwave, so we weren't completely roughin' it.  We had such great fun, playing games, making crafts, roasting marshmallows, hiking, flying kites, and of course, tanking!  We didn't have the best weather that weekend, but we did have the best time!  We would love to do it again.
